"Through her songs, Rand traverses love, politics, conservation, spirituality and life with a seasoned-to-perfection voice, that, according to Terry Tempest Williams, 'Opens the doors of creation'." -Santa Cruz Weekly, 2010 Touring nationally for twenty-five years, appearing with Bonnie Raitt, Bob Weir, John Hartford, etc., Rand recently earned a degree in Music Composition and released her tenth, eleventh and twelfth indie CDs back-to-back: •Rise, © '11; •Live with Claudia Paige, © '10 ; •Snake Oil and Hummingbirds, © '09. Writing and playing music since childhood in the Deep South, Rand cut her performance teeth playing bluegrass in Alaska and spun musical magic with natives in the Amazon. She spent six formative years as a performer touring from her homestead in California's remote wilderness, fully launching her career in California's North Bay Area, where she remains revered as one of the region's finest independent artists. A North Bay Bohemian readers' poll voted her "Best Acoustic Band," and dubbs Rand a "legendary...longtime local hero." "Nothing short of brilliant." -Santa Rosa PD During the 1990's Rand moved to Seattle helping to anchor the city's thriving music scene, collaborating with AIDS activist brother, Jordan Rand. She is now in Arcata, CA raising her daughter, teaching, composing, and touring solo or with her band.
