Libro que se ha leído y que no tiene un aspecto nuevo, pero que está en un estado excelente. No hay desperfectos visibles en la tapa y se incluye sobrecubierta, si procede, para las tapas duras. Erstdruck: Berlin (Stage) 1857 (pseudonym). Textgrundlage ist die Ausgabe: Wilhelm Raabe: Ausgewahlte Werke in sechs Banden. Herausgegeben von Peter Goldammer und Helmut Richter, Berlin und Weimar: Aufbau, 1964-1966. Umschlaggestaltung von Thomas Schultz-Overhage unter Verwendung des Bildes: Spreestrasse, heute Sperlingsgasse, in Berlin, Fotografie um 1885. Gesetzt aus der Minion Pro, 16 pt. Henricus Edition Deutsche Klassik UG (haftungsbeschrankt) UEber den Autor: 1831 in Eschershausen im Weserland als Sohn eines Juristen geboren, bricht Wilhelm Raabe die Schule erfolglos ab, beginnt eine ebenfalls bald wieder aufgegebene Buchhandlerlehre und widmet sich umfangreicher Romanlekture. 1854 beginnt er die Arbeit an dem Roman Die Chronik der Sperlingsgasse, die er 1856 unter dem Pseudonym Jakob Corvinus veroeffentlicht. Ab 1857 erscheinen seine historischen Erzahlungen in Westermanns Monatsheften. Nach zahlreichen ausgedehnten Reisen durch Deutschland ubersiedelt Raabe nach Stuttgart und tritt u.a. dem Deutschen Nationalverein und dem Grossen Klub bei. 1866 ist er an der Grundung der liberalen Deutschen Partei beteiligt. 1897 erscheint eine erste Monographie uber Raabe und zu seinem 70. Geburtstag 1901 erhalt der inzwischen verehrte Dichter mehrere hundert Gluckwunschschreiben. Mit den Ehrendoktorwurden der Universitaten Goettingen, Tubingen und Berlin und dem Koeniglich Preussischen Kronenorden ausgezeichnet, erkrankt Wilhelm Raabe 1909 schwer und stirbt 1910 als Ehrenmitglied der Deutschen Schiller-Stiftung in Braunschweig.
