The North Carolina group's enjoyable stew of jump blues, doo-wop and gospel was a major influence on the rock and soul music to come Housed in a beautiful 8 1/2" X 8 1/2" 124 page hardcover package, this complete collection by these founding fathers of American Soul Music contains 141 tracks on 5 compact discs. Headed by influential guitarist/songwriter Lowman Pauling (who influenced guitar greats including Steve Cropper and Eric Clapton", the collection includes the original recordings of "Think" (covered by James Brown), "Dedicated To The One I Love" (covered by The Shirelles and Mamas and Papas) along with a treasure trove of blistering R&B scorchers and some fine ballads as well.
