A nice 100th Anniversary Edition with 28 original illustrations by Sidney Paget. The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of 13 Sherlock Holmes stories, originally published in 1903-1904. The stories were published in the Strand Magazine in Great Britain, and Collier's in the United States. It was the first Holmes collection since 1893, when Holmes had "died" in "The Final Problem". Having published The Hound of the Baskervilles in 1902, which was set before Holmes' "death", Doyle came under intense pressure to revive his famous character. So it was packed pretty well, apart from the outer box being quite a bit too large, which allowed the heavy book to bounce around a bit. This could’ve caused the top corners to be bent a little, but I can’t say without seeing the book before packing. Some scuffs and light scratches too, but overall good condition. And at a good price, I can’t really complain.
