My shoe size is Men's 9½D, and these "size 10-13" socks are perfect for me. But they would not be big enough for a man wearing size 12 or 13 shoes.

The front of the sock extends up past the "ankle bone" (medial malleolus), but the back doesn't reach nearly as high, well below the "lateral malleolus." It did not go high enough to prevent contact between the back of my shoe and the back of my ankle. At the end of the first day, my skin was somewhat "angry," but I didn't have a blister yet.
