Whether this is your first experience with astronomy or you are a seasoned veteran, the Celestron 21024 FirstScope Telescope is an elegant, functional piece of equipment. An Official Product of the 2009 International Year of Astronomy, it's decorated with the names of famous astronomers printed along its barrel, making it a fitting introduction to science. As one of the more accomplished entry-level small telescopes, it is loaded with capabilities and works well with accessories. The Celestron FirstScope tabletop telescope is stylish enough to be kept within your home or office, yet it's built with a 76-millimeter aperture reflector-type optical tube for an incredible viewing experience. The fit and finish of these telescopes are high quality and attractive. The tube has a 300-millimeter focal length for a fast-focal ratio of f/3.95. It comes with two 1.25-inch eyepieces: a 20-millimeter/15x and a 4-millimeter/75x. Other standard 1.25-inch eyepieces are interchangeable with those that are included, giving a range of magnifications for looking at the stars, the moon, or daylight scenery. It also includes a 5X24 finder scope and bracket to help point the telescope at the desired feature in the night sky. With a three-inch lens size and 11.8-inch focal length, rest assured that you can see every detail of the object you are attempting to view. The 4-millimeter eyepiece delivers 75x magnification, and the spherical optics are sharp enough for displaying details of the lunar craters and valleys, the moons of Jupiter, the Andromeda galaxy, and star clusters such as the Pleiades. Its compact Dobsonian design makes the Celestron FirstScope an ideal traveling companion since it is easy to pack up and take with you on your hunt for a clear sky. It can be easily disassembled from its mount while keeping the barrel optics intact to fit within a suitcase. The optical barrel is practically immune from dings and nicks. It withstands dew and avoids thermal distortion along its length. The simplicity of the optical design and sturdy construction are crafted to offer years of use in field conditions.Featuring an easily adjustable angle and twist-lock styling, the Celestron FirstScope Dobsonian Reflector Telescope makes searching the stars as simple as a twist and tilt. The altitude angle is easily adjustable against a Teflon bearing surface, while the azimuth adjustment rotates the scope smoothly on its base. It's designed to be a tabletop model, but the three widely separated, large rubber feet keep the scope balanced on other near-level surfaces without needing a tripod.
