The Katherine Aelias Band (KAB), in it's three years of performing and recording has achieved accolades and loyal fans everywhere their music has gone. KAB's first single, 'Merge', released in 2002, was chosen to be featured on a nationally syndicated radio show, and has received national airplay. KAB's second single, 'Fades Away', a tribute to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, was featured in the New York City magazine, 'Naked City', which was nationally distributed. Their first 12 song CD, released at the end 2002, features acoustic mandolin songs presented in a very unique style. KAB was invited to perform at the gala event celebrating NASA's launch of 'The mission to Mars' in June of 2003 in Cape Canaveral. Their pro-peace song, 'Rain' has received airplay in both the US and Germany (in 2004-5), and was honored in the Best of 2004 issue of the Ithaca Journal. KAB is now releasing (February 2005) a new full length CD, 'Coming Undone', which has already received much critical praise. KAB's strength is in their song writing and unique musical blend. The band Combines uniquely effected acoustic instruments (guitars, mandolins, violin, bass and percussion) with powerful and hypnotic rhythms, highlighted by the mesmerizing vocals and lyrics of Katherine Aelias. KAB's styles move from the most poignant and beautiful ballads to hard driving modern acoustic rock. They also feature excellent interpretations of some old favorites. The band is made up of many seasoned musicians who have offered their virtuosity in support of creating unique and powerful songs. They are: -Katherine Aelias (writer, lead vocals, guitar, mandolin, bass) is a new artist who has been playing mandolin, bass and guitar for 6 years, and writing song lyrics for 10 years. She decided to focus her music on a band project, and together with co-founder Jeff Coleman, formed the band 'Katherine Aelias Band' in the year 2001. -Jeff Coleman (writer, vocals, mandolin, guitar and bass) is a seasoned musician, who has been playing bass and guitar from the age of 10 years old. He has participated in many local upstate New York bands and recording projects. -Ben Coleman, bassist is an energetic and charismatic player. His strong rhythmic style and exciting, whimsical stage presence, adds a beautiful bottom to the sound and a smile to every face. -Tye Wolfe, drummer and percussionist, has been playing his instrument from the age of 13. He has participated in a number of bands in New York and his childhood home state of Massachusetts. His gentle touch and wonderful drum compositions have added beautiful tension to the music. -Peter Aven, rock violinist, is a seasoned musician, who is touring the country regularly, mesmerizing audiences all over with his powerful rhythmic style, and exciting solos. Peter is an award winning violinist, competing professionally even as a young child.
