Product Information

Sony's GameBreaker series, which debuted in 1996 on the original PlayStation, returns to the PlayStation 2 with 117 Division I-A teams and stadiums, 27 Bowl Games, and 66 All-Time teams. Five modes of play include Scrimmage, Bowl Season, Tournament Season, Tournament, and Coaching Career. Keith Jackson once again calls the play-by-play action from the booth, but he is now joined by Tim Brant for game analysis and color commentary. <br><br>Scrimmage is simply an exhibition game played with a choice of teams, stadium, time of day, and weather conditions, such as wind, precipitation, and fog. Bowl Season is a complete college season with an option to edit each team's schedule by changing opponents, bye weeks, and venue. As the season progresses, players can monitor their team's national ranking as well as the Heisman Trophy candidates and potential All-American award recipients. Tournament Season follows the same format of the Bowl Season but features a post-season tournament instead of a Bowl Game. <br><br>Players who simply wish to forgo the season schedule can do so with the Tournament mode, which supports a choice of eight or 16 teams. Coaching Career has players stepping into the role of a coach from a small program before embarking on a full season. Depending on the team's success after the first year, the coach may be promoted or fired. Coaches can also convert players to new positions after their first year and recruit new athletes whose position depends on the coach's field of expertise. In addition to recruiting blue chip prospects, players can create their own "walk-on" athletes for use in the game.
