While NOT waterproof it IS water resistant from rain or snow if mounted upright and above rain or snow levels. Plug into a GFI protected outlet. The manual over-ride switch is stiff to operate but works. BN link like other Chinese manufacturers use a pin-down configuration to turn the outlet on and pin -up to turn it off. This positioning is counterintuitive to most Americans and should be on a label. Quiet!
