I have been successfully using this type of sandbag for many years to hold down the winter cover because the expensive vinyl water bags do not last because of the bird claws that put pinholes in the water bags and loose most of their water. The sand bags last for several years before they rot or break open. They are heavy though depending how much sand they are filled with.
