I was happy with the shipping cost. I knew the base was heavy. The packing was superb! I would say the packaging was in the top 10% of items I receive and I buy a lot. It was on the expensive end but I bought it, didn't I? Shipping was a little expensive and was packaged in a simple mail sleeve so I'm glad it wasn't punctured during transit.
