Long overshadowed by the historical importance of US Big Bands, the British scene of the pre-war years has been sadly neglected on CD. This 20 track overview presents the cream of UK based dance bands every bit as creative and relevant as their US counterparts. This overdue sampler presents recordings made between 1930 and 1945. The booklet contains full biographical and discographical details. Tracks include Billy Cotton ("Margie"), Lew Stone ("White Jazz"), Henry Hall ("Goody Goody"), Jack Hylton ("Swing Is in the Air") and "Victor Sylvester ("Goodbye Blues"). Acrobat. 2003.
