Reviews
"When colors are floated on a thicker liquid and paper is placed on them and then removed, the paper is said to be marbled; the design formed by spot or thrown patterns or 'combed' colors resembles feathers or shells. Wolfe, a librarian and marbler, has attempted . . . to clarify marbling's misty origins in China and Japan in the tenth century and Turkey and Persia (now Iran) in the early seventeenth century. Germany and France represented the highest development of the design and technique of paper marbling. Marbled paper was used primarily for book decoration but also for stationery, furniture lining and ornament, boxes, and other small objects. Wolfe follows the craft's flowering, decline, and revival in the late nineteenth century and devotes the second half of his text to its tools and techniques. . . . Indispensable for book arts collections."-- Library Journal

Synopsis
For 250 years after its introduction to Europe around 1600, the method of decorating paper known as marbling reigned supreme as the chief means of embellishing the fine work of hand-bookbinders. Richard J. Wolfe reconstructs the rise and fall of the craft and offers the most comprehensive account available of its history, techniques, and patterns. A publication of the A.S.W. Good package and the photo postcard look great and lovely condition. The problem with the USPS in America (Carol Stream, IL) is a very late with longest delayed despite I paid them expensive postage costs and poor time management, the eBay seller is not his fault but massive appreciated for his efforts and sort out with USPS quicker and resolve the problem. Seller is a great communicator. Many thank you.Postcard RPPC Studio Portrait Well Dressed Man Seated Holding Dog On Lap A4 (#116382103139)

Also, before shipping, this seller contacted me to let me know that there was a small discrepancy between the item I ordered and the description -- it was truly no big deal, but I appreciated the forthrightness and honesty.
