Synopsis
Examines the development, operational record and history of the Tu-114. This book includes a collection of archive photographs, both mono and colour, along with detailed line drawings of this imposing and highly successful airliner., This book covers the complete development, operational records, and history of the Tupolev Tu-114, a very large-for-its time Soviet airliner that could achieve speeds similar to that of jet aircraft despite its turboprop technology. Includes numerous detailed photos and line drawings that will be an invaluable reference for aviation modelers and historians., In the early 1950s, OKB Tupolev, the Tupolev design bureau, was instructed by the Soviet government to design a civil airliner with an intercontinental range. Based upon the earlier four-engined Tu-95 strategic bomber, the resulting aircraft was the largest airliner constructed at that time, providing accommodation for up to 220 passengers. The Tu-144 confounded experts by being able to fly at speeds similar to those achieved by jet aircraft, while still using turboprop technology. The Tu-114 set a number of records, including the speed record for a turbo-prop aircraft that still stands 50 years later. A total of 31 Tu-114rs" s entered service with Aeroflot, operating over long distance internal services and international services to cities from Tokyo to Havana. Gradually replaced from 1971, the last Tu-144 Aeroflot service was withdrawn in 1975. However, a number of the Tu-114rs" s were subsequently converted into AWACS aircraft as the Tu-126 " Moss" for operation in the Soviet navy.

Item arrived within expected window of delivery. It was packaged in such a way so that item would not damaged during shipping. Item was actually better than described in eBay ad. It had been described as "Very Good," but it actually could be described as "Fine," "NOS," or "Like New," because it looked like a brand new copy! Great value for the price. Very happy with my purchase experience with this seller.

This item was listed as "very good" condition but it should have been listed as "like new" condition. I was very pleased to find the Bible had no writing in it, had a very clean leather cover and in fact looked like it had never been opened. The box was even in great shape on an item from 2013. The packaging could have gotten it to China and back without a scratch. It was shipped the same day as purchase. I love it and am very pleased with this seller.
