The kit was indeed new despite the box being opened as the contents were still sealed, and the seller even went the extra mile of wrapping them in bubble wrap so model kit sprues wouldn't get shaken around and snapped off. I'm immensely appreciative of the extra precautions as the exterior packaging was very safe, as well.
