Even without the fan blowing, putting your hand in the fog has a slight coolness to it. Don't know how effective that really is at cooling. It's not just the gimmick of fog make s is worth more. The fan seems to be genuinely well made, low noise and very smooth. It has a sturdy, surprisingly heavy base and looks very nice. Assembly was easy, didn't even look at instructions. Well packaged and quick delivery.
