"The construction of the book is durable and beautifully crafted. The text is crisp and complimented by more than ninety color images. Intended as a fitting supplement to the text, the images are equally engaging and prove compelling in their own right." -- The Chronicles of Oklahoma, Winter 2008-09, "By publishing this valuable collection of oral histories of the Delaware Indians, [Indiana University Press] has helped recover much of these Indians' history since their days in Kansas Territory in the 1850s. The book [is] nicely illustrated and carefully edited by Brown and Kohn... Outstanding.... Highly recommended." -Choice, The stories contained in these pages have many things to tell, the pride of a people, their personal histories, their determination to remain who they were and are as a people.... Sometimes we as individuals take our heritage for granted and do not learn the lessons of history. Synopsis
Through first-person accounts, Long Journey Home presents the stories of the Lenape, also known as the Delaware Tribe. These oral histories, which span the post?Civil War era to the present, are gathered into four sections and tell of personal and tribal events as they unfold over time and place. The history of the Lenape is one of forced displacement, from their original tribal home along the eastern seaboard into Pennsylvania, continuing with a series of displacements in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and the Indian Territory. For the group of Lenape interviewed for this book, home is now the area around Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The stories of their long journey have been handed down and remain part of the tribe's collective memory and bring an unforgettable immediacy to the tale of the Lenape. Above all they make clear that the history of seven generations remains very much alive., Through first-person accounts, Long Journey Home presents the stories of the Lenape, also known as the Delaware Tribe. Seller still processed a refund the day I went to return the item and let me keep the item anyway. A+++ service. Book arrived quickly in great condition and for a great price. Thank you so much! Amazing seller!
- _***s (6)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaWhen I'd originally placed this order, I had accidentally put in the wrong shipping address. However, the seller was more than helpful, and the CD arrived!! The packaging was wide open when it arrived, but luckily nothing was damaged. Additionally, there was nothing protective on the CD, so that open package made me feel kind of nervous. Otherwise, absolutely great! The customer service was awesome, and the product was as described.

I ordered another and had it sent elsewhere. My main issue was that it felt as if I was getting automated responses at first!! Please have humans review human inquiries!! It was painstaking explaining the situation to an A.I. who only repeats unhelpful replies. Thanks again!! Otherwise. Great price!
