Best known for his touring work with the Razormaid & Bangalore Choir, Curt Mitchell also devotes much time to helping musicians master the playing styles of their musical heroes. In this instructional program, Mitchell helps guitar players of all levels attain a dense and crushing Pantera-inspired sound. After a false start as a 1980s glam-metal band, Texan-born Pantera reinvented itself as a fierce thrash combo in the 1990s, distinguishing itself by offering up its trademark "power groove" sound--a potent, slowed-down version of the typically break-neck speed-metal style. In this program, Mitchell breaks down Pantera's guitar technique into a series of understandable riffs and chords that guitarists of all levels should be able to handle. Close-up camerawork and detailed instruction give viewers the tools they need to tackle songs including "Five Minutes Alone," "Walk," "Hold Your Mouth For The War," "Keep This Love," "Hostile," and "New Life." Demonstrations illustrate such topics as amp and effect settings, alternate tunings, and speed metal techniques. While GUITAR METHOD IN THE STYLE OF PANTERA features lessons and on-screen tablature that may help guitarists emulate the playing styles of their idols, members of Pantera do not make any appearance in or have any connection to the actual program.
